Acne Care
By Chooch81
If you suffer from acne, an acne care regimen is imperative to keeping your skin as clear as possible. This article will provide you with some useful information on how to start an acne care regimen. In determining how to care for your skin, you will need to consider your skin type. You will need to look at some options for daily cleansing. Also, you should consider the different treatment options that are available to determine what treatments will work best for you. After you have read the information contained in this article, you will know how to go about setting up your daily acne care regimen.
Skin Type
The first thing to consider is your individual skin type. Specifically, whether you have dry skin, oily skin, or somewhere in between. If you have an oily skin type, you will need to consider this when choosing acne cleansers and products. Try to find products that are oil free to avoid making your skin any oilier. Also, be careful about washing your face too often, or washing with harsh cleansers that cause dryness or irritation. While it might seem like washing frequently will help, the truth is that your body will naturally respond to irritation and dryness by producing more oil. So it may make your oily skin worse. If you have a dry skin type, then you will want to use a moisturizer to help restore moisture to your skin. Make sure and choose a moisturizer that is non comedogenic so that it does not clog your pores and make your acne worse. People with dry skin also need to be careful of over washing or using harsh cleansers as this can make your skin dry out even more. Now that we have talked about skin type, lets move on to daily cleansing.
Cleansing
Keeping your skin clean is very important when it comes to acne care. You will need to use a cleanser that works well with your skin. Try to avoid cleansers that are harsh so that you do not cause your skin to become dry. Dry and irritated skin can exacerbate acne symptoms so it is important to be aware of this. Also be careful of washing too frequently. Wash your face in the morning, and again at night before bed. If you are experiencing irritation, try using a more gentle cleanser, or try using just water at night and cleanser in the morning. Now that we have covered daily cleansers, lets talk about acne treatments.
Treatment
There are numerous acne treatments available. Finding the best treatment for you may require trying some different products, and seeing which ones provide you with the best results. Most over the counter treatments contain either salicylic acid, or benzoyl peroxide. Both of these ingredients can be effective, so try them both out and see how they work for you. In addition to these products, there are some natural methods that you can try. One of these is using a warm compress twice a day. Soak a wash cloth in warm tap water and apply it to your face for about five minutes in the morning, and then again at night. Just make sure that the water is not so hot that it burns your face. Another method to look into is supplementing with vitamin B-5, also known as pantothenic acid. Some have come to believe that the use of vitamin B-5 may help by reducing the amount of oil that your pores excrete. By excreting less oil, your pores do not get clogged, and your acne condition improves.
Now that we have covered some of the basics of acne care, you should be in a good position to start determining which methods and products you should use to help improve your acne. Remember, consider your skin type when choosing products and methods, be careful of using harsh cleanser or over washing your face, and try out different treatment options so that you can find the treatments that work best for you. Now put this information to use and start planning your daily acne care regimen.
